Project C20+ – Iquique

Maritime Desalination Plant Assembly - Collahuasi Mining Company - Iquique

In November 2024, the Maritime Works team was awarded one of the most significant maritime infrastructure challenges of the year.

Since work began in November 2024, highly complex maneuvers have been carried out to move and assemble essential components: ballast tanks, pipes, yokes, distribution chambers, T-shaped fittings, and systems for the discharge and intake areas. All of this was done with the goal of assembling and installing the outfalls and the desalination plant’s filter system. The loads handled ranged from 18 to 140 tons, highlighting the precision and safety of each operation.

One of the most critical aspects was the complete assembly of the south and north branches of the intake chamber, each weighing 158 tons. This work was performed with an accuracy of 20 centimeters along the axis, at a depth of 28 meters, demonstrating the team’s technical expertise.

Approximately 45 employees per shift participated in the execution of this project, along with engineering, technology, and intelligence teams, who provided innovative solutions to meet the required deadlines and standards.

The completion of this phase reaffirms our commitment to operational excellence and safety, consolidating our company’s position as a leader in highly complex maritime projects.
