Refitting of the Eduardo I

Refitting of the Eduardo I

This project was carried out over a period of four months in 2023 at our shipyard in Puerto Chacabuco.

The Eduardo I began operations in 2016, and during that time, only routine dry-docks maintenance were performed, so its hull and interior facilities needed to be renovated. Changes in habitability regulations provided the opportunity to conduct a structural transformation that incorporated a functional design for mooring operations, offering greater interior comfort for the crew.

One of the main aspects of the refit was the removal of the barge ramp, allowing the bow space to be used for installing a galley, dining area, bathroom, laundry room, and cabins, with all these spaces interconnected below deck. In addition, the main engines and hydraulic motor were replaced. Hydraulic brakes were added to the winch, and a new crane (hydraulic boom) was installed.

Since safety is one of our core corporate values, we emphasized this aspect by installing safety guards on all equipment that required them and updating the onboard connectivity systems. Finally, we completed the interior and exterior painting and performed maintenance on the underwater hull, among other tasks.

Our shipyard in Puerto Chacabuco performs hull cleaning for our vessels, and we also offer external clients the option of having their maintenance work done on our dry dock, which is equipped to operate 365 days a year, regardless of weather conditions.
