Mooring Installation at Alao West – Mowi

Project carried out between 2023 and 2024, located on Alao Island, Quinchao Municipality in the Chiloé Archipelago.

This project was a challenge for the company, as it had been many years since a client had requested work of this nature—the installation of mooring systems for circular cages. Today, most salmon farming companies use square metal cage rafts that, when combined, form a rectangular module.

The system requested by the client follows Norwegian construction standards; during its installation, it was visited by executives and the Technical Site Inspector, who supervised compliance with these standards.

Prior to the project’s execution, the most experienced teams within the company were selected, including ship captains who had previously worked with these construction systems. The younger team was trained, and a thorough review of the installation processes was conducted based on the construction plans, in order to ensure top-quality service.

From an operational standpoint, new materials were used, notably Salmonplast steel cables, which require special care during maneuvers to ensure proper installation. A total of 78 moorings were installed, providing support for 10 circular cages.

Our vessels Kuality II, Don Ernesto, and Don Daniel participated in the installation, utilizing a combination of diving equipment and underwater robotics.

The project was completed on time and officially accepted by the client.
